LANSING, Mich. (May 28, 2025) — After joining Ciena nursing home workers last week in their strike for a fair contract and to gain the respect they deserve, Sen. Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) released the following statement in solidarity:
“Last week, I was proud to join Ciena workers on the picket line. Economic justice and fairness are at the core of the Ciena workers’ fight. No one doing essential, hands-on care work should have to struggle to make ends meet — especially not after showing up day after day through a global pandemic. These hardworking caregivers deserve a fair contract, not intimidation and retaliation. I continue to stand in solidarity with them as they demand the wages, protections, and dignity that every worker should be guaranteed in our state.”
